Headers with minds of their own

Hi - I have a document about 30 pages that is only one section with a footer.
When I get to page 26 the header becomes large (about half the page) which
pushes my text down to start half way down the page. And then about page 29
it goes back to 'normal' size. I cannot reduce the size of the header, there
is no text or paragraph formatting in the header, it is not a new section. I
tried deleting everything from the bottom of the last correct page and
re-entering, but that didn't work either (although it did manage to delete my
footer at the same time!). Would appreciate some help if someone has come
across this problem before.

Thanks.

On the Layout tab of Page Setup, change the vertical alignment from Center
to Top.
