Header Section Break Problem

I'm using Word 2003 and I've made a header that's for the first page only
with company's letterhead. The second page has a different header. I've
checked the box that says "different first page" in page setup. This works
fine unless someone in the company decides that the second page of the
document needs to be in landscape for a figure or large table. When they
insert a section break (in order to keep the title page in portrait) the
first page header now is also on the second page. I don't know how to get
around this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

By default, the headers (and footers) of a newly inserted section are linked
to their "neighbors" in the preceding section, so what you are describing is
to be expected.

To fix it, manually, just unlink the first page header (by clicking the Save
as Previous / Link to Previous button on the Header and Footer toolbar), and
then delete the contents of the first page header in the second section.
