Header and footer problem

Why does my header/footer look washed out and pale when I stop editin
it? I want anyone who opens my document to see the header and footer i
full color.

Thank

That's how headers/footers work. If you want the headers footers to look
like the rest of the document, output to PDF format and distribute that. You
will need extra software to output to PDF, the nature of which will depend
on your Word version.

Yay, solved it. Just Format Picture that is in the header and reduce
brightness and increase contrast so that it compensates for the
washed-out look that Word just had to force.

I shudder to think what you'll get when you print that document. Have you
looked at Print Preview? (Though actually, if it is wrapped, even a normal
graphic may still look washed out even in Print Preview.)

Don't be silly! As Suzanne says, this will ruin any possibility of creating
a normal print out of the document.

If you switch to Reading View, do you get the headers & footers
looking right? (It must be there for _something_.)

The reading layout (not something I normally use) does not show
headers/footers at all. In any case even if it did, the OP is concerned that
others would see his document with faded headers and there is no way you can
impose a view on other users. The only sensible approach, if this is
critical (and as Word users know that headers/footers are faded I don't see
that it is) is to use PDF format for distribution.

I guess if you're just reading for content, it would be helpful, especially
for those who need to increase the text size for visibility. In any other
view, if you increase the Zoom ratio, eventually a document with reasonable
margins will run off the screen, but Reading Layout/Full Screen Reading view
allows you to increase the font size without increasing the width of the
text line. I would guess it is intended for e-books and mimics the behavior
of dedicated e-book readers such as Kindle. It would probably also be
helpful for just ordinary proofreading. Sometimes I overlook missing
punctuation because it falls at the end of a line; with both nonprinting
characters and text boundaries displayed, it's often hard to tell whether a
period or comma is actually there or not (unless I increase the Zoom
dramatically). So I would guess it has its uses for some people.
