my HDD WD1200JS temp is 42c -108 F, this temp is when he is "resting". when he is not resting, like when i play a pc game, it goes up to 47-48.

i have a 120MM fan on the back of the case and just yesterday i bought 120MM fan for the front of the case right infront of the HDD but i dont think the fan infront of the HDD realy made an impact on the HDD. the temp is still 42c when im not working with him. is that a normal temp for this HDD? if not, what should i do?

BTW, my pc is AMD athalon 64 3500 venice

thank

According to WD you are within specs ... See here
Your temp seems high though, what are you using to monotor it?

What is the ambient room temp?

You may want to invest in a little hard drive cooler, the kind that screws to the bottom of the hard drive.

;)

i am not using anything to monitor it.what should i use to monitor it?

the ambient room temp is about 18c

Hmmm ... so if you are not monitoring it, how do you know what the temp is?

ohhh i understand... im using speed fan and also EVEREST
OK, Everest is good ... it will give you a good indication of the HD temp.

I still think your HD temp is a little on the high side for a SATA drive ... take the side of the case off and touch the side of the HD with the back of your hand ... if it feels lukewarm I'll be happy, if it feels hot then I'd be looking for a reason why.
