HD in removeable shuttle: Define as Removeable Storage?

I have a HD that is in a plug-able shuttle that I use for backup. I
power down, insert the drive, power up, do my backup, power down, and
remove for safe-keeping.

My question: Is it possible to define this drive (or shuttle location)
as removeable storage. It shows as a normal HD when it is installed,
and when removed, there is of course no entry.

If I can define this as a removeable storage (like 3.5" drive or a CD
drive) is there any system advantage to doing this?

I have searched the XP knowledgebase with no results- maybe it's there
and I just haven't found it yet....

TIA, Rich

Map it as a network drive, and use that path for backup.
