HD grahics cards under Windows XP

I'm about to buy a HD graphics card and saw the Saphire Radeon HD 4550 had
good reports for the price. The spec says "For Microsoft DirectX® 10.1
support, Windows Vista® Service Pack 1 is required". does this mean it will
not work if I have windows XP or that just the MS DirectX 10.1 will not work.
If the later what exactly is MS DirectX 10.1.

You don't get DirectX 10 support unless you have Vista. XP will only support
version 9. I don't know exactly what version 10 would give you, a search on
google should answer that although I'm sure someone here will have an
answer.

It'll work fine on your XP system.
DirectX 10 is only available on Vista and up, not XP.

As Tom said, it will work on XP, but it will also work with MS Direct X10.1
on Vista if you have Service Pack 1.
I don't know what version of Direct X you are using on XP, but that card
will work on your system.
