HCT 9.52 - Microsoft Cluster Server

Aaron

Hi, I use the Win2k HCT 9.502 kit for logo testing and I
am curious as to the difference between the following
tests:

1. Microsoft Cluster Server - Crash 2 Node test
2. RAID Cluster Device - Crash 2 Node test

Both tests do not require any clients, but are listed
under those 2 different categories. Whatever information
you can send me is appriciated.

Thanks,
Aaron

The difference in these two tests have to do with what you are trying to
Logo.

1. Microsoft Cluster Server - Crash 2 Node test

Is for logoing complete server systems for Cluster service.

2. RAID Cluster Device - Crash 2 Node test

Is for logoing a separate HBA (SCSI or Fibre Channel) for cluster use.

Both tests are quite similar using the same executable. So basically use the
one that is in the correct kit for the device you are trying to logo.

Loren, Thanks for the reply. One more question: Say I am
trying to logo a storage device, such as a drive array
enclosure, which test would you recommend? - The Cluster
Server or the Cluster Device? Is one test better fit for
storage devices?

Thanks,
Aaron

Please send any follow-up questions to the "(e-mail address removed)" alias as
this will expedite a response.

Your question can be better answered if we know what the storage device is
and what the end goal of the testing is.

Raid system testing is for testing a storage subsystem with a raid
controller in the subsystem for compatibility with Windows. HBA (fiber,
scsi, raid) testing is for an HBA for compatibility with Windows. Cluster
device submissions are no longer allowed or listed on the HCL or catalog.
Cluster storage block testing is for testing a logo'd raid system and hba
for compatibility with Microsoft clustering. Cluster solution testing is
similar but not the same.
