Hi all. I've successfuly setup RIS on our local server, used RIPrep to pump
an image up to it but now when i try to deploy it, i get this error;

"The operating system image you selected does not contain the necessary
drivers for your network adapter. Try selecting a different operating system
image. If the problem persists, contact your administrator. Setup cannot
continue. Press any key to exit."

At KB article 823658 (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=823658) it mentions
a windows update to resolve that but it's not available for download. At the
MS Support page i then get an error that our PiD can't get online support.

Just how am i meant to get this update?

At first i thought it was the broadcom driver, but i've created $oem$
directories, copied the driver files here there and everywhere as explained
at http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/faq_drivers.php#79 and made
the changes to the riprep.inf file etc but i still continue to get that error
when i try and deploy the image.

Can someone help me obtain that security update or steer me in the right
direction to help resolve this?

Kind Regards

What the Broadcom instructions (and everyone else it seems) fails to mention
is that you also have to copy the 3 NIC files that they mention and place
them on the root of your i386 folder of your Riprep'd image.

Good luck! :)

Hi Sony311, thanks for that. I have the driver files in there already but it
still refuses to work. I've heard mention that the drivers that ship with the
DELL PC's arent up to it so i'll grab the newer version drivers and try those
as well.

Hello Shane!

No Sony made a little mistake!
You don't have to put them under the folder "i386" of your RIPREP Image BUT
under you RIS Flat CD Image "I386" folder cuz during the Text-Mode Setup, the
RIS Server is looking for NIC drivers under that folder.

Here is an example:
\\RIS-Server\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\WINXP-SP2-CD\i386

Where WINXP-SP2-CD is my RIS Flat CD Image Folder.

Hope this helps!
Let me know if this worked or not!
J.
