Having problem saving Pitures from webs sites as JPEG

I'm having a very annoying problem on my new pc.
I need some covers for my games and i have found a site
that provides the covers for download and have all the
software needed to print it off. My old pc i could save
others formats.

Now i am on XP and whan ever i right click and save as a
BITMAP i cant open it in my printing software or any other
program. I have no otpion to save as a JPEG on any image,
but when i checked the cover i had downloaded the
properties stated it was a JPEG when clearly it had been
saved as a BITMAP.

I have tried dragging and dropping but i have a message
saying unknown format.
I have tried to open the pics in paint and the message
says...... Cant open cover.jpeg unable to read this
file ,this is not a valid bitmap file. This format is not
suppored. The only thing i can see is that something is
going wrong when i am saving files from the internet.

I have got other ppl to save the covers and i have managed
to open them so i know its my computer that has the
problem.

Hope somebody can help.

I have the same problem. How do I copy a jpeg pictitre
off the internet because mine always come up as ART or BMP

My Windows XP programs won't open those formats.

Any ideas?
