Have to restart XP Home at least once

Hello all,

I have a 2 year old Dell Dimension 8250 running XP Home. Recently I've had
to restart the system before it will work properly (after each time it sits
for a while). I use it as my work computer and each morning I start it up it
won't work correctly (Outlook 2002 won't start or IE6 won't start
correctly). I'm then forced to restart the system at least one time...then
it works fine (for the rest of the day).

Anyone have any idea what could be going on?

Thanks in advance...

Go to run and type msconfig and see what is in the start up tab and go from there.

Hi,

You likely have a piece of hardware that is beginning to fail. When "cold",
it fails. When it has a chance to "warm" after you apply power, it works
fine. This is a sign that there is a problem with a component. The solution
is to have it tested professionally (and I'm talking a pc shop, not some
office superstore), or swap in known-good working parts. Not a task for the
light at heart.

Do yourself a favor.
If it is the hard drive failing, make copies or backups of
any files you think are important.

Once it fails hard you may not be able to get to them.
