Is this form generated by front page 2003? It collects the text part of my
websites orders--placed by customers. Is it necessary? What happens if i
were to delete it?

Correct

Is it necessary?
No, but you won't have a backup for your orders if an email gets lost or deleted.

What happens if i
were to delete it?

The extensions will probably create a new one when the next order is placed,.
or the user will get an error,
If you don't want it used, you need to remove it using the form dialog properties for the form,
Then save and republish the page.

You can specify it not to save to the text file under Form properties, and
only to send to your email address. It's just an extra option if you needed
to save the entries for any reason; it's saved as a CSV file for easy import
into a spreadsheet or database.
