Have a Type I slot, type II card. Anything I can do?

Hello all! I just received a notebook (IBM Thinkpad 560). Mine broke
and I will be using this for a bit until I can get me a new one. I
guess it has a type I pcmcia slot because my wireless card will not fit
into it. There wouldn't happen to be a way I can still use it? Maybe
an adapter or maybe I can take the old pcmcia type ii slot out of my
broken laptop and put it in this one?

But I guess I should ask first is will Windows 95 support wireless
network anyway? I could probably upgrade to Win98 but I think that
might bog it down. It has a P133 & 40MB of ram.

Thank you for any help you can give on this.

Just keep the machine as it is and save your money for a new one

If it cant fit in? I doubt it somehow.

98 would run masses more software than 95, and will run passably on a
133, just about. But it is slower than 95. And 40M isnt exactly
generous with 98, you'll be stuck to running 2 or 3 apps at a time
before it bogs down. There is an interesting compromise, 98 lite. This
is 98 with 95's explorer and various unnecessary services removed.

So I get the feeling either you can live with what youve got or time
for a newer machine. These oldies have valid apps, but as general
purpose desktop machines they're ever just scraping by.

If you want to find a compatible wireless card, try EBAY.

98 will be OK, just don't try win2k unless you can get gobs more ram.
Even then, win2k would work, but it'd be a slug.

One question, before you consider upgrading: do you have a working
CDROM drive with that laptop? If you don't, installing a new OS is a
pain.
