Please somebody help me!!!!

Awhile back my computer crashed (believe it was done by the very person who
was supposed to have fornmatted and fixed my computer in the first place as I
found out after it was done that my computer was being used as some lkind of
server to download pirated movies, etc...!! I actually stumbled across the
file they were using and first hand noticed movies being downloaded and
already downloaded to my computer!!) and there were important files and
programs I needed to be able to access for work. For some reason I was
unable to do a system restore, so I then used the WIN XP pro cd I had to do a
repair install. Howevere I was unable to because the version I had on my
computer was newer than the one on cd (thats what it said anyways), so in
desperation I installed xp again on hard drive (with hopes of being able to
acess certain files and programs for work). After doing the install when
system is booting up, I am given an option to choose which operating system I
want to load so no problems there, was able to get in and access files and
programs, etc... Well this is definitely taking a toll on my hard drives
space!!
I have been doing my best to uninstall the version that crashed, however I
am unable to boot that version of XP up. First it said that my config.sys
file was missing so I copied it from other version hoping this would work,
now it says that system profile file is corrupt or missing. Copied this one
again from other version into this one and still am unable to boot up that
version of xp so I can uninstall. Went in through windows explorer to do an
uninstall, and it won't let me because it says the install files cannot be
located!!!!!
I would do a reformat and clean install after a backup of course, however
there are some programs that I cannot find my discs or keycodes after
having move twice by now!!! I need these programs as I use them for work!
What can I do and what is the process necessary to remove one of these xp's?

Also on another note for some reason I always get the microsoft visual basic
window message: compile error in hidden module: AutoExec

Anybody know what I can do about this!

I would appreciate any help with this problem, it's driving me crazy how
slow my computer is running! I have gone through and cleaned out everythin
possible and gotten rid of everything I can, defragmented, etc...

Thank You

You know what with all of the "pirated" stuff and "someone" setting your
computer up to retrieve this stuff to their system(it would do them no good
to leave it on yours)
I would definitely bite the bullet and reinstall XP and during the process
format the whole HD.............starting from scratch.
You really have not changed anything with your 2nd installation...chances
are they are still accessing your system.Deleting the 1st installation would
in all likelyhood still not change anything as the new installation is most
likely using the same settings as the old...but who knows.

Thanks for the tip, I did have a friend come and make some changes to stop
this access and it appears that nothing else has been downloaded to this
file. However my biggest problem is this... If I do a totally new format
and install I will lose some of the programs that I need and use for work
purposes and through either moving, theft or damage I do not have the install
discs or codes for these programs!!! Any suggestions there??

Thank you,
Cystine

Programs required for work are tax deductible...........
Yes a complete format and reinstall will now cost you some cash......thats
the penalty for losing/misplacing the originals.
But like they say.....Piece of mind is priceless
