hardware/ software upgrade to AD

I am planning to upgrade my windows 2000 server w/AD to
windows 2003 server w/AD By installing a new server w/2003
on it. Then the old server will be demoted to a member
server. Has anyone done this process, and have any white
papers on the process I should follow. I seem to remember
a security issue with a top level domain controler..
