Hardware recognition issue

When I plug in a USB Device(ie external hard drive) I do
not see it as a usable drive on 'my computer. I see it
in device manager.

Sometimes I get the error that device could not be loaded
due to a missing driver. This just recently happened. i
used to be able to see these devices.

Any help is appreciated.

You need to assign it a drive letter. Right click on My Computer select
Manage. On the following screen, select Disk Management. The drive should
appear on the right hand side of the screen.
