Hardware detected device wave files ignored

My connect, disconnect, and failed to connect wave files do not sound
when inserting and removing hardware from my USB slot. I am able to
play the files manually in the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties
window. All of my other program events work just fine. Any solutions
would be appreciated.

When this happens to me, I need to do a FULL restart
(NOT "stand by / resume).

Maybe once every two months or so...

Are your USB devices still working?

The computer is set to shutdown and restart automatically every day.
7am -> 7pm.
It boots to sound, shutdowns to sound, plays all media audio, and all
other
program events associated with a wave file play without incident. I
noticed
the missing device sounds about a week ago. All USB devices are
working.

Could be the particular wave file for the event is not configured properly,
or possibly the file is damaged or missing. Try going into the Windows
Control Panel and select Sound section, and reset the sound scheme to
default should fix your problem.

Likely some software you installed may have changed the sound behaviour.
