Harddrive Spacd

I recently realized my harddrive space was getting pretty low. So i
unistalled a bunch of stuff and delted things. It helped but only freed about
aout GB's. So i started looking at the space very often and realized i am
losing hardrive space without even doing sanything. I have 31 GB hardrive and
am down to just 6.77 GB. And my concern is just 10 min ago i had 6.78 GB and
its been doing that all day since i started watching it. I havn't been
putting anything on to the comp at all does anyone know why this could be
happening?

Try this if you don't care about losing your system restore points as
they gobble a lot of disk space. Go to start\control panel\performance
and maintenance\free up space on your hard disk. Click the 'more
options' tab. Click 'clean up' where it says System Restore. This will
likely take a minute or two to clear and will free a lot of space if you
have not done this before or for more than several weeks. Now, over
time, you will have new restore points that accumulate and if you don't
need any restore points, then go back to clean up again. Now go back to
the disk cleanup tab and check whatever you want to clean up. Then,
click OK. Now if you have some Norton software or the like, you will
not see the free space unless you purge your deleted items as it
protects your data in case you later needed the data after you removed
it. As for the losing a tiny bit of space issue, this is very normal.
I wouldn't worry about that at all unless you're getting into a huge
number change.

The 1st thing that I would do is go into Safe Mode and run a couple of AV,Malware, Hijack Tools. Then you should check your running processes and your Startup folders. Also check if any prog is writing to disk.

"Bope" - regarding your statement "

and
Keep in mind that XP does "housekeeping" during what seems to be inactive
periods.

Do you have any programs similar to GoBack that periodically save snapshots
of the system files?
