How to configure pagefile.sys?

Currently used space in my C:\ is 7.64 GB, free space is 2.11 GB and size of
pagefile.sys in C:\ is Min.512 MB & Max.1000MB. It is off in other
partitions. The RAM on my PC is 512 MB. It is generally recommended that size
of pagefile.sys should be 1.5 times that of RAM, but doing that would make
free space on C:\ very less. C:\temp is empty, Temporary Internet File is in
some other partition and disk cleanup has been done. I am having one physical
drive of 40 GB, with four partitions of 10 GB each, and having much free
space in other partitions. What should I do to the size of pagefile.sys?

Let the system manage the pagefile size.

The 1.5X recommendation is a poor one. It's too small for those with little
RAM and too much for those with lots. I would lower the minimum to about
200MB and leave the maximum alone.
