Hard hang on Start->Settings->Printers

Problem: My win2K pro system(s) hang when attempting to access
Start -> Settings ->Printers, or access printers through any other
interfaces. I can still print through applications to the default
printer but I can't change printers. The systems go into a serious
hang. You can't do anything, even task manager is non-functional.
After a few minutes it posts a "explorer.exe has generated errors
an error log is being generated". Reset time!

The problem (seems to have) started when we swapped a network printer
model, but I can't be sure. Other systems seem to have dealt with that
just fine. There are no local printers, all are on the network.

Ideas ? Registry hacks? Anything other than "rebuild windows?"
Thanks,

Does this occur even if the computer is not attached to the network? If
not, try removing the printers while not connected and add them again.

I just tried the hard disconnect (remove cable) and then reboot. Still
happens.

Other ideas? Registry hacks to remove printers ?

Thanks

Anyone ? Is there anything short of "reload windows" ?

Thanks
