Printer driver install hangs

I am attempting to install a driver for an HP DesignJet z2100, which
is connected via jetdirect card. We installed this printer on other
machines and it worked fine, however, on one particular model of
computer we have, it hangs during the install. In fact, it seems that
possibly all new printer driver installs may hang on this model.

I am of course installing as administrator, the tcp/ip port seems to
install fine, it shows files being copied, and then it comes back to
the add printer dialog and hangs. When it hangs, spoolsv.exe goes up
to 50% and stays there. If I look at a different model computer where
the install went through, it seems to have more files from the install
- but once again, I am an administrator, so I can't imagine a
permissions issue.

I can SHARE the printer from another computer and add it in just fine,
but I'm assuming that requires no driver installation, which is where
the problem appears to be. Any suggestions on how to further
troubleshoot this would be much appreciated.

When you suggest deleting all the drivers, are you suggesting I do
that by going to "Printers & Faxes" then Server Properties and then
Drivers and deleting them through that screen?

Delete all the print drivers on the machine where you experience the hang,
then attempt to reinstall just this one designjet driver.
