Hard Drive - Used Space/ Free Space Error

I seem to have a problem on my c drive. When i check the properties it says
i have 15 GB used, 2.63 GB free with a total capacity of 17.7 GB on the
drive. When i open the c drive and select all files i only have a total of
12 GB used. Where are the other 3 GB?

I had the same issue with my D drive so i copied all files over to somewhere
else, formatted the drive and copied all files back over and my missing
space was recovered. As it is now my c drive which has the problem i am
reluctant to use this solution.

Windows sets aside a certain space for Virtual Memory. Pagefile.sys is a
hidden file
