HArd Drive Troubles

today when i started up my machine, it displayed all the bios information
then went black. i checked all connections and everything was fine. I
suspected my harddrive, which is serial ata, was causing it. i really
coundnt test it on another pc in my house since im th only one with SATA
support. An older IDE harddrive worked fine.

I then removed the SATA HD from my case and held it on my hands. As a
turned the my pc on, the harddrive began to spin, but after 10 seconds, it
made a beeping noise and stopped.

Anyone no a solution...i cant send it back becasue i bought it OEM

Its a Western Digital WD800
80 gigs
SATA

Try checking to make sure that the disk is recognized in the BIOS - if not,
you'll have to reload the drivers for it. If it is, you've likely got a bad
hard disk. There's lot's of tools out there for data recovery -
unfortunately most all of them are expensive.
