My hard drive is running all the time after startup.
System still works but is very slow. Any ideas?

You can use Task Manager and or Performance Monitor to see what process is
consuming the cpu/mem

The only processes running are System Idle Process, and
inetinfo.exe seems to be running occasionally

Since you're running inetinfo.exe you must also be running some combination
of an ftp server, nntp server and or some other component of IIS which may
be the cause.

And here's a neat twist - when I open Internet Explorer,
the hard drive stops and functions normally - when I close
IE, it's starts spinning again. It's not FindFast indexing
either
