When I boot my system, the floppy and CD-ROM is read,
then my monitor goes into powersave mode. Does this mean
my hard drive is dead? What can I do to troubleshoot or
make determination b4 trashing? HELP! Thanks in
advance :)

Probably not too many people around right now with better answers, so:

1: try booting in safe mode. If this works, you probably have a driver
problem but can limp along. You can then try the steps below, whether or
not a safe more boot works.

2: remove all devices/cards but the floppy and monitor card, disconnect
the CD data cable, and try booting. If the system boots, restore cards
and connections one at a time rebooting each time. When the sys fails to
boot, you have isolated the problem. If the system still fails to boot
and you have several RAM sticks, do the same with them, one at a time,
always leaving one in in the slot recommended by the manual. This way
you can isolate bad RAM.

3: Post back with more detail - ESPECIALLY and recent changes you made
to your system.

4: Happy New Year from someone who grew up in Riverdale and went to
grade school in the shadows of Yankee Stadium (& the Polo Grounds).
