New Hard Drive Not Regognised

Today I tried to install a 2nd hard drive on a friends machine which is
running Win2000. The first drive is very small and has the operating system
on it. The idea of the second drive is to store documents, photos, videos etc.

The jumpers are set correctly and i have even replaced the cable. however,
although the drive is being recognised by the BIOS, it does not show up in
windows explorer. All i get is A (Floppy) C (HDD) and D (CD Rom)

Can anyone offer any information/help please!

Thank you
Rob

Because you forgot to partition and format it. Explorer can't see a drive
that's not formatted.

Right click on My Computer select Manage. On the following screen, select
Disk Management. It should show up on the right hand side. Partition it
(even if all you need is a single partition), format it and then assign it a
drive letter.
