Hard Drive Problem

The startup disk works for me and I can access both my disks ( NTFS &
FAT32 )
with no problems
You can try looking for utilities to troublshoot damaged partitions and
mbr's

You may end up trying a clean re-install of xp with your hardware setup the
way you'd like it too.
Just remember ... don't use Cable Select :)
