Hard Drive Missing in My Computer

C

1 of my existing 4 hard drives (not OS drive, data only) no longer appears in
My Computer or Disk Management.

The missing drive is a WD500gb SATA on an installed SATA card. Both are
recognized by the Bios upon bootup. Both are recognized in the device manager
and their properties state that they are working properly. The drive is found
by Add Remove Hardware and is listed as working properly. And the Data
Lifeguard Tools finds the drive and states that it is working properly. No
other programs can see the drive.

I have uninstalled the drive from Device Manager and upon rebooting it is
automatically displayed there and it's properties state that it is working
properly.

I still can't see the drive in My Computer or Disk Management. My guess is
that some file or the registry has become corrupt.

Should I try to reinstall the OS and all of the service packs and updates?
What will I loose in addition to a great deal of time?

Should I try physically removing the drive & card from the computer and
reinstalling it after running the computer through a reboot & shutdown.

Please Advise.

Try this go here
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
and look for "NoViewOnDrive", if found delete it.

Not much else you can do but, disconnect the drive reboot, then shutdown
reconnect the drive and reboot again. What about the SATA card, can you
switch the drive to another SATA port?
