I installed xp home on my system and i assigned my cd
roms as "e" and "d", my zip as "c" and my hard drive
as "f". I changed my zip to "g" and went to try to
change the hard drive to "c" but i got a error
saying "windows cannot modify the drive letter of your
system volume or boot volume" how do i get my hard drive
to be the c drive?

You can not change the drive letter of the partition that the O/S is
installed upon. You have to choose the correct partition during the initial
install. You will have to reinstall Windows XP again. Disconnect the zip
drive. You have already found out that it "always" hijacks the C:
designation for itself. After a successful install, shut down and reconnect
the zip drive. All will be correct.
