HARD DRIVE IS NOT RECOGNIZE AFTER SERVICE PACK

When installing any service pack under windows 2000
workstation my secondary drive is not recognized. It will
state I must format the drive. If I uninstall the service
pack I am able to see the drive. Any suggestions would be
helpful. The computer is a older computer about 5 years
old and primarily used just for storage. The secondary
drive is on the second IDE CHANNEL. Thank you.
