Hard Drive and Admin Password on Boot

A Dell Laptop was given to me and it has an admin and hard drive password set
on boot up. I do not know the password and I cannot locate the person who
gave it to me. What is the best way to bypass this to fdisk the harddrive
and reinstall xp pro?

You'll have to contact Dell support and request a
BIOS reset disk. Have the laptop's serial number
and Dell service tag number handy as they will request it.
The numbers are located on the bottom of the laptop.
