Anyone ever experience this problem: I installed a
primary slave drive (all data only) and under cmos and
control panel in windows xp recognizes it. BUT when I
run 'my computer' to access the drive, it's not there?!
Anyone offer any help? Thanks.

You are confusing me!
Did you install a Primary, or a Slave? (Can't be both).
What EXACTLY do you mean by "control panel in windows xp recognizes it".

He shouldn't be confusing you. The drive can be set as one of four in
the bios (at least on all my computers):
Primary Master
Primary Slave
Secondary Master
Secondary Slave

Elippsis has installed a Primary Slave.

Has the hard drive been prepared with FDisk (http://fdisk.radified.com)
or similar programme? I believe it would show up in the CMOS but not in
"My Computer" if it hasn't been allocated a partition and subsequently
formatted.

Primary Slave is CORRECT the correct term. IT means the second drive on
the Primary IDE channel.
