Hard disk problem or Xp problem?

Dear All,

I have a problem to access some files on my hard disk.
Recently I did backup all my data from my old computer to my new one.

Unfortunately, when I try to do some operations (ie. copy,
rename, ...) to these files with "window explorer", most of time the
system hangs.

From task manager I can see that the status of that directory is "not

responding".

If I kill the application, Xp continues to work properly. But if I try
to access the same file, the system hangs again.

From "cmd" a can operate to those files without any problem.

I started Xp in "safe mode", but the problem happens the same. Using
windows explorer to operate on certain files, the system hangs. Using
"cmd" there is no problem.

I checked the hard disk with chkdsk and with some external tools and
they didn't show any problem.

For safe of completeness, I use windows Xp Home fully updated, the
filesystem is NTFS but the files come from FAT32.

Can you give me some help to understand what is going on?

You should run the file transfer wizard from the xp cd,set old pc as "old
computer",select files/settings/data to collect,collect data in new
folder,once
its thru,move to cd.Rerun FTW in new pc....
