The light is on when the HD is active...........or if the wires are hooked
up wrong
If the HD is active when you are not using the system it could be XP
Indexing Service running
Right Click your drive/properties............at the bottom turn off
indexing.

You reinstalled windows becasue the HDD LED wasnt working properly?
Thats stupid, windows dosnt even have direct control over the HDD LED,
if I was you I would forget the HDD LED light dosnt work properly, and
get on with the rest of my life. (My HDD LED is unplugged any way!)

Thanks for reply, but it seams that u have misunderstand me , Hard Led did
not stopped, it shining continuously (Active All the time) not as u
mentioned in your reply ...!!?? also I am not with you that windows have
not direct control over the HDD led as there is an option called indexing
data which is direct control hdd led.

Thanks for your efforts :)

When I say "windows dosnt even have direct control over the HDD LED" I
mean that windows can only indirectly casue the HDD LED to activate.
The HDD LED only blinks becasue windows wants to either read or write
from the hard drive. The HDD LED dose not blink becasue windows wants
it to blink.

When I say "the HDD LED wasnt working properly" this dosnt mean that I
understood that the HDD LED is always off. The LED can be considered
as "working properly" when it is only activated when there is hard
drive activity, if the LED stays on all the time OR stays off all the
time it can be considered to not be working properly.
