Hard disk activity every second

Dave

I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop with Windows XP Home. The specs are Intel
Dual Core 2GHz CPU, 1GB RAM and 80GB HD. The only programs running are IE7,
McAfee, Remote Desktop client and Intel PROSet wireless program.

This may sound trivial but when I have a lot of tabs/windows open in IE7 the
hard disk light flashes and makes a little noise about once every second. It
is just hard-disk activity but it is very regular and will continue until I
close IE7.

I have very sensitive hearing so I notice it and it irritates me.

My guess is that it is possibly page file reading but with 1GB of RAM I
would hope the necessity for that would be minimal.

Anyone know what the cause is? How to get rid of it?

I think IE7 still has a few bugs in it.

Though I've gotten it to work ok on a few machines...
I 've uninstalled it from the rest and just use the Enigma browser shell for
tabbed browsing
