Hard Disk Activity

Celeron running Windows XP, has very slight but ongoing hard disk
activity; just the faintest flicker of the indicator light every
second or so. Running in safe mode has no effect on this. I am
concerned about hard disk wear-'n-tear. Informed opinions most welcome

Excessive swapfile usage? Answer; Add more RAM.

Thats normal with XP. Its visibility depends on the led detail.

Running in safe mode has no effect on this.

No need to be. Even drives that are used all the time last just as long as ones that dont.
