hanging pc

ive just done a reformat .but ive started installing software now and when i
try to reboot it just goes from the windows load up screen to a black
screen.then i shut down and have to start windows in the menu given as it
wont allow last good config it just hangs. i have to go to windows normal.any
ideas to solve my problem

ok, well going into safemode without any problems indicates that windows is
not the cause of your difficulties and it is either a faulty driver, faulty
hardware and or a faulthy program trying to startup.

while in safe mode go to start > run > msconfig > startup tab > disable all

check your virtual memory/swap file and manually set it to min of 2 and max
of 750

then shut down pc.

then unplug all equipment from the back of the pc except monitor, keyboard
and mouse.

start pc to normal mode and provide a status herein...
