Hanging on Welcome Screen

Pink Sparkle Girl

I have just cloned my current hard drive onto a new hard drive.

On boot up the clone hangs on the Welcome screen. I have tried booting in
Safe Mode, Last Known Good Configuration and Directory Service Restore Mode
with no success.

What else can I do as I have had nothing but problems with getting the clone
to work!

Thanks, Sarah.

That begs the Q, what did you use to clone, and did you follow the
instructions explicitly?
This assumes you only changed HD

If you cloned the drive as a backup, it should work fine in the SAME SYSTEM.
However, if you are taking that drive to a different system with anything
different in the configuration, you will have problems. Windows configures
itself to the hardware in your system (motherboard, video card, ports,
etc...) Putting the drive into something different will normally cause
windows to freeze up on the boot. Afterall, its loading drivers for things
that are not there, or configured differently.

If you want to test your backup, clone your drive again. Disconnect the
original drive and boot from the "backup" drive. It should work. Also
note jumper settings on the drive in case you have a master/slave setup on
the same cable.
