Hanging application

My pc freezes up includeing keyboard and mouse. I need to
use the restart on the hard drive. I have looked at my
error logs at it comes up with:
Hanging application vidcap32.exe, version 4.0.0.0, hang
module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.
I havent tried to use this application or any of the
others it comes up with. Some times it freezes before
windows has finished loading and others it can 1/2 an
hour.
I have run an updated anti virus and it hasnt detected
anything, I cant find anything else wrong with my system.
What could cause this problem?
