Hang up when finished.

I have always had Outlook Express hang up when it is finished down loading
email. I have the same option picked in Outlook but it is not hanging up.

What do I have to do to get it to hang up when I am done. I am using
dial-up so it should be able to complete this task. When it is recieving
messages, you can see that the hang up option is picked. I have also checked
the tools/options/mail delivery and the option is set to hang up also.

What is the problem?
Thanks

No answers are possible until you state your Outlook version, mail account
type, the connection type you specified and your automatic polling settings.
Note: "dial-up" is not a connection type. Examine the properties of your
mail account.

Outlook 2000, mail account type is mail, Connection - Dial up (That is what
it says under internet accounts), And in account properties there are no
automatic polling settings

When I used OE, if I recevied email it would log me off even if I had IE
open. Outlook does not do that. If IE is open it will not log off.

Need more specific version information. Internet Mail Only or Corp/Workgroup
mode?
None of these answers fits with reality.
Mail account type is "mail?" Actual choices would be SMTP/POP, IMAP,
Exchange Server, etc.
Dial up is not a connection type you can specify. Actual choices would be
"Phone Line," LAN," or "Third party dialer."

In general Outlook will only manage a Phone line connection, and only if you
have an automatic polling interval set.

Connection : Connect using my phone line.
Mail account type is "mail?" Actual choices would be SMTP/POP : Pop3
Internet Mail Only

I assume automatic polling interval set.... I can not find a place to set.

Does this help you? And thanks for responding.

Tools > Options > Mail Delivery > Check for new messages every xx minutes.
Set it to something greater than 10 minutes.
