Outlook 2007 hangs upon loading

In regular and safe mode Outlook hangs (freezes -- requiring task manager to
unload it) just about when you think it is finished loading.

Can anyone suggest anything short of reloading the program from the CD?

Is that safe mode by starting outlook using the safe switch?

You can try inserting the cd and choosing Repair

DL: Thanks for the quick reply. I got to safe mode by rebooting about 10
times. How do you involke safe mode with a switch?

I'll try "repair" on the CD. Didn't know there was such an option.

Thanks again.

DL: I ran CD 2 where Outlook is located and the "Install" and "Repair"
options were grayed out. The only option available to select was remove. I
would remove it and re-install it but I am concerned as to what would happen
to about 200 contacts and contact history that I don't want to lose.

Any second thoughts?

Presumably you have Outlook with BCM, As far as i'm aware Outlook is is on
cd1, BCM is on cd2
Not that uninstalling is likely to cure any such issues.
From the Run cmd (Start Menu)
Type;
outlook.exe /safe ( note space between exe /)
How does it behave now?

DL: I got Outlook up and running with the /safe switch. I was able to read
mail and reply but the moment I clicked on my flagged items (for callback)
Outlook froze.

And I still need to get BCM to work if possible.

Will go to CD1 to see if "repair" is available on that disk and will advise.

Also, with Outlook closed search, to include hidden, for scanpst.exe, run
this on your data file, probably named outlook.pst. If it fixes any err's
run it again

DL: Ran scanpst and got message "minor inconsistencies". Clicked "repair"
anyway and then ran it again. File clean. Was able to load Outlook in
standard mode, immediatley went to Database Management and did a
repair/backup of the BCM database. Up and running one hour now without
locking up.

Many thanks for your advice.
