Hi,

Somebody was telling me that RAID cards will only work properly with
Server 2003 and not XP Pro, because the HAL in XP Pro is not the same
as the one in Server 2003, and the one in Server 2003 is made for
hardware raid and the one in XP Pro is not.

Is there any truth to this?

sorry if this posted twice, my computer is giving me a hard time

Add-in RAID cards will work fine with XP Pro or Home as long
as you have the proper drivers for the hardware. I have an
old Dell 8100 with a Promise Raid PCI card with 2 80 GB WD
HDDs striped and it has been working flawlessly for about 3
years now. Never a wimper (but I do keep it backed up.)

Did a quick check on MS web site searching for any reported
problems and could not find any reference to what you are
posting. If there is any problem, I am sure someone else
will clarify for you and me.

i run hardware RAID on my home PC also. And i've
installed XP Pro on a Proliant DL380 G4 also, which had a
SmartArray 6i in it.
