Gray Box: Asus video card not detected

WHen I boot up or restart I get this gray box. However, my video card is
working just fine! I downloaded the newest drivers to see if that caused it
but the gray box still comes up.
All this began after I did a "clean boot" that a microsoft technician told
me to do when Silverlight would not install on my computer. Silverlight still
will not install and now I get this error box as well.
As far as I know, I have restored all of the things we unchecked in the
MSCONFIG services and start up tabs.

I would try going back to msconfig and under startup look for an entry that
may say Asus or SmartDoctor. If yes, and it's checked. Uncheck. If it's not
checked. Check.
