nice forum :) but a bit of a graveyard though.....people seem to stumble in as opposed to regular visits.........would a new problem forum help...??....for example operating system problems/answers specific...ie..win98/ME/2000/XP maybe 95 and NT not sure if they would be popular or not........anyway just a thought/observation :)

Thanks for the feedback. It's always quite quiet round here, we're looking for a way to jump start the community.

We'll bare your suggestions in mind for the site reprogram/redesign which we're currently working on, which will see a major overhaul of the way questions and answers are taken about users problems on the site.

:)

......thanks for the reply Matt......lets hope you can liven it up a bit because this site as a whole has got a few unique and useful items........

Hi Legless 1...I think your point is well taken, and yes, it's definitely quiet in this forum. However, speaking as someone who has been involved in many such places, this one has a good 'feel' to it, if you know what i mean? It's a bit like the 'Cheers' bar of the IT forums...where everyone knows your name :spin:

As a result, I find that no matter what i ask, there's always someone who seems to go out of their way to get me an answer, because i might have responded to one of their questions before. And i always try to get good info for other people who ask questions in return. This is the place I go before all others to get a considered view rather than a quick dogmatic reply from some youngster who's just repeating what they've heard someone else say in another forum.

Peeps like Ian and Mucks and Quad and Matt (and those others i've failed to mention) put real effort in...that's what makes the forum a bit special in my book.

So stick around and be part of a close knit but open community. ;) :)

I know this is old thread but i t o t a l l y with what 1nteger said

this is an awesome community and people do take time to reply and help out.

id much rather be part of a small(ish) community ie this one than a large one with thousands of people.

We also enjoy folks like christopherpostill when they enthusiastically particiapate in the forum and help increase activity and keep the place lively! :)

This is a local forum for local people ;)

very friendly, and no piss taking the noobs (i.e me :p )

The local people here are so nice that they do not even object to a foreigner around like me!:D:D:D

Just read what you said about me Quaddy... very nice of you sir. It's nice to have people to chat with like this...

And I love it - feels friendly and people are very helpful and kind!!

I have tried a few others and have found other forums to be full of curt replies and not much 'care'.

It can be quite daunting for newbies to join a forum and the people around here make you feel welcome, so I'll be sticking around even though I can't hold a cnadle to people's technical knowledge!!

Aloo Gobi Recipe (direct from the DVD extras for "Bend it like Beckham")

Aloo Gobi

Ingredients

1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 large onion, peeled and cut into small pieces
Large bunch of fresh coriander, separated into stalks and leaves and roughly chopped
Small green chilies, chopped into small pieces (or one teaspoon chili powder)
1 large cauliflower, leaves removed and cut evenly into eighths
3 large potatoes, peeled and cut into even pieces
1 can of diced tomatoes
Fresh ginger, peeled and grated
Fresh garlic, chopped
1 Teaspoon Cumin seeds
2 Teaspoons Turmeric
1 Teaspoon Salt
2 Teaspoons Garam Masala

Heat vegetable oil in a large saucepan.

Add the chopped onion and one tablespoon of cumin seeds to the oil.

Stir together and cook until onions become creamy, golden, and translucent.

Add chopped coriander stalks, two teaspoons of turmeric, and one teaspoon of salt.

Add chopped chillis (according to taste)

Stir tomatoes into onion mixture.

Add ginger and garlic; mix thoroughly.

Add potatoes and cauliflower to the sauce plus a few tablespoons of water (ensuring that the mixture doesn't stick to the saucepan).

Ensure that the potatoes and cauliflower are coated with the curry sauce.

Cover and allow to simmer for twenty minutes (or until potatoes are cooked).

Add two teaspoons of Garam Masala and stir.

Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves on top of the curry.

Turn off the heat, cover, and leave for as long as possible before serving.

Bon Apetit ;)

Mucks wonder off into the kitchen, drooling at the mouth, looking for "something" to eat.
