From what I have read, you should not modify pictures with in FrontPage.
Okay so I usually use Photo Editor. My problem is this. Does anyone know
of a software package that will resize all pictures in a directory..
automatically with out me having to do each one individually?

May be a strange question but it would make importing everything into
FrontPage easier if I did not have to reduce each picture one at a time.

Just wondering. Thanks in advance
..

for something like this I always use smartsaver pro from www.ulead.com it'll
optimize them, resize and make thumbnails all in one shot. it's my favorite
for that kind of work and I've got all kinds of editors including Photoshop
7 full version.
ulead should have a free trial of the program.

The Free IrfanView.
www.irfanview.com

Does batch resize / resample / thumbnail
and more.

Ditto on what Steve said - IrFranView is great (and free)

Photoshop also has batch processing, but you do need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out (at least on PS 6 you do)

In addition I don't think there is a problem editing images from within FP if you register your image editing program in Tools/Options/Configure Editors. I could be wrong...but I've not had a problem this way.

Thanks all you for the input. I'm trying both products out and they both do
the trick exactly as I had hope. This saves me a lot of time. Once again,
I appreciate the help from all of you... and this news group for such
valuable help/information.

Thanks from all of us.
one thing I'd like to say in closing about the ulead product:
I've always been impressed by it's file compression abilities. I've never
found anything, not even ulead's PhotoImpact, that does a better job. in
fact I tried it as a test. did my picture resize and stuff in photo impact,
hit the f4 button to bring up the optimize dialog box and set it as low as
it'd go and still look good. then I ran the original through the smart
saver and it was 10K smaller and looked the same. I don't know what causes
this but I'm a fan. ;-)
