Graphics Tablet as Input Device

I have a graphics tablet that I use with some graphics programs and also as
a general pointing device. I've come to like using the pen much better than
a mouse or trackball. I've seen tablet PCs that have handwriting recognition
and the PDA I use has it's own form of freehand entry. Can this capability
be added to Windows 2000 or Windows XP? I have access to both types of
operating system and my tablet is compatible with both operating systems.

I've already tried that search and it did not yield anything useful. . .
kind like your reply. Never mind, I'll keep looking on my own.

You asked about XP, perhaps installing an operating system that supports
it will be the shortest path to success?

One computer, a laptop, already has XP, the other is Windows 2000, so
changing the OS is not an option. Because of money, my own money, upgrading
to Server 2003 is not an option either. It's going to be difficult to try on
the laptop as that means I've got to take it back from my kids ;-{)} They're
too busy with Sims and the Tycoon series for me to get any time on it.
