Having some trouble in XP with a couple of graphics-intensive games. At
random times in my gameplay, I get a stop screen with these various error
messages:

--DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

--Beginning dump of physical memory
Dumping physical memory to disk ... 0-100%

--STOP 0x0000008E

--ks.sys
Address F83084BB base at F82F9000
Datestamp 3dee36d2

Regardless of the error message, I get the dumping memory to disk thing,
then when it reaches 100%, the system restarts and is fine, until it happens
again. Is this some kind of video problem?

Gigabyte GA-7NNXP mobo
Athlon XP 2600+
512 DDR RAM
GeForce 4 Ti 4200 AGP8x
etc.

Any suggestions?

Mike

I don't know much about video, but 512MB of RAM is not enough for a
graphics-intensive game.

Actually, this isn't true. 512MB of DDR RAM with the decent video card
Mike has is fine for playing graphics-intensive games. We've got two
Windows boxen with similar configurations and they handle anything we
throw at them with no problem.

The ks.sys file seems to have something to do with audio. I'd suggest
upgrading your audio drivers. If you're using onboard sound (Yamaha
seems to be indicated), then first update the drivers. If that doesn't
work, try installing a standard card like a SB Live or Audigy with
current drivers instead. See if that fixes things. If not, then update
your video drivers, but start with sound.
