graphics card for still images

I am planning to upgrade my monitor to a TFT and will need a AGP4x graphics
card with DVI out.

I spend long sessions in front of the screen reading text or editing text
and 2-D images. I hardly ever watch videos and never play 3-D games. I am
therefore looking for a suitable card that is optimised for still images
rather than for movement. Any recommendations?

I think Matrox tends to specialize in 2D cards.

That's a vague answer, but thanks anyway.

It's a vague recollection. Many manufacturers go for 3D performance,
but I seem to recall hearing that Matrox was more of a specialist for
2D quality. You'd want maximal 2D performance for video and photo
editing and prepress, and 3D for games and some other applications,
but I don't know how the market demand is divided between the two.
Seems like a lot of companies care only about 3D.
