Hi,

I am looking for a fairly cheap fanless graphics graphics card and I have
seen that Gigabyte do a NVIDIA Fanless 6600GT Series
http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/products/components/gv6600gt

I see from the blurb that this card has both DVI and D-Sub connectors.
Does this mean I can use them both at once to drive 2 monitors?

Computing environment? If you're not interested in state-of-the-art 3D
operation for games, you might consider a Matrox G450, G550, or G650
dual-head. I'm using a G450 with two CRT monitors along with Ultramon
(aftermarket dual-monitor software), and it is perfect for this
photo-editing workstation. I don't do games, and if you do I'd look
elsewhere if you want top-drawer performance. You can find G450's on Ebay
for less than $50. I've haven't looked lately, but the last one I bought
was about $30.

thanks for the reply. Actually already have a G450 and I'm looking to
replace it with something a bit more up to date

ultra 3d performance isn't my highest priority but I would like to spend
around £100/$150 to get something that is at least directx 9 compatible.

fanless is a must, as is dual monitor capability

Wouldn't most modern cards be OK? I have a Radeon 9550 which is fanless
(a must for me too) and has dual display capability. That said, IIRC the
NVidia driver setup is easier to use.

well, I guess that's crux of my question. I haven't bought a graphics card
for 5 years so I don't know if these dual output (dvi + d-sub) cards allow
you to run a windows desktop across 2 monitors, or do they only allow you to
display the same picture on both?

I'm no authority on that stuff but I think the OS has something to do
with it. My XP Pro allows the bigger desktop it on the Radeon mentioned
above. Since you got few replies why not pick one or two fanless cards
that you like the look of asking in a new thread if they support what
you're looking for?
