GPO Not Updating

Hi,

Have a problem with a win xp sp2 client pc running off a 2k DC. When the pc
is in a OU 1 the GPO applies restrictions to modifying desktops etc. When we
move it to OU 2 with no GPO and run gpupdate the new settings do not take
effect on the client pc, i.e. they are still restricted.

There is no domain or site level GPO and the OUs aren't nested. We setup a
GPO which enabled modifications to the local PC in OU 2 and then ran gpupdate
and the client pc could be modified, when moved back to OU1 and gpupdate was
run, the client pc could still modify all of their settings and the
restrictive OU was not applied.

Any ideas??

Each GPO policy has 2 version numbers, one for the machine portion and one
for the user.

Each version only applied once.

So if you have the machine in OU1, then change some settings locally. OU1
won't apply again the next time it boots up. I believe that there is a
policy named something like "apply policy everytime". Enable this and you
should be fine.

I'll try that but the new OU policies are not implemented even after the pc
is restarted.
