I am having a problem with part of our group policies and am not sure what
to try next. We run a windows 2000 domain and in the process of upgrading
all clients from Windows 2000 Professional to Windows XP Professional. We
have a program that everyone uses that relies on an ini file that resides in
the c:\windows directory. I have under the domain policy for the OU under
computer configuration security settings and file system I have it set to
replace this file. However whenever the computer is booted up and the GPO is
applied the file does not get copied over.

One note we have had no problem with this GPO working on windows 200 clients
and the only change there is on windows 2000 it is c:\winnt instead of
c:\windows.

Any hep would be much appreciated.

The file system settings are used to configure ntfs security on files, not replace
the file. To do that look into using a startup script to copy the file to the
computers within the scope of influence of the policy. --- Steve

in that startup scripts are under computer configuration.
